An offer we can and must refuse!
The PCS has endorsed the TUC statement on last week’s pensions offer and re-affirmed support for the TUC’s ongoing campaign for fair pensions.. The strength of feeling across the public sector unions has pushed the Coalition to propose that the accrual rate for the career average scheme replacement to the Classic, Premium and Nuvos schemes– the percentage of salary earned as a pension every year – will be based on one-sixtieth of an average salary rather than the initial sixty-fifth as proposed earlier, and that anyone 10 years off retirement on 1 April 2012 will not be forced into the career average scheme or have a pension retirement age in the range 66-68. Government refuses to move on pension cuts
A number of members have been asking about events taking place on 30 June.
None of us can exaggerate the impact that the Government assault on the public sector will have on our livelihoods – from job cuts to pensions and pay freezes, it seems the blame for the economic crisis has been firmly shifted to us and the expectation that we alleviate the deficit through higher pension contributions and a longer working life is abundantly clear.
